Our story

We started VanHan in 2012 with a view to building a best-in-class prime central London agency. Over the last six years, we have been privileged to help clients buy and sell some of the most prestigious properties in London. It has been a busy few years, with over £150m of successful transactions in the last 6 months alone (to February 2018).

From the start, we wanted to do things differently – treating our clients’ property needs, as if they were our own.

The upshot of our bespoke and focused offering was that we carried on transacting throughout the downturns and the upturns, as our clients continued to retain our services.

With successes came approaches to sell, partner or be part of larger businesses, but none of them really gave us the capability to care for clients, and therefore look after them, the way we had been.  Well, until we met Andrew Hay and Paddy Dring at Knight Frank…

Andrew Hay and Paddy Dring have a vision that aligns with ours; moreover, they wanted us to bring our vision to KF and continue to service our clients, while building the VanHan client offering for their clients too.  Their prime team offered us the independence and flexibility to do this, and we’re hugely excited about our future with them.

As a result, from 5th March 2018, we are transferring our clients, knowledge and bespoke services to build the Knight Frank Private Office – part of their Global Prime business.  Nothing will change for our clients, nor the service they receive from us: it’s simply more of the same, but with a bigger, better (and global) real estate team.

We can still be reached on our old contact details at the moment, but we’re moving across to new emails and can be reached on Thomas.vanStraubenzee@knightfrank.com  (M: +44 7867 523 569) and Rory.Penn@knightfrank.com (M: +44 7966 022 273).

We are really excited about the future, and are delighted that both our clients and Knight Frank are too.  If you’ve any questions or want to discuss your property needs – we would love to hear from you.

Thomas and Rory
